knife cut by a strange person at the gym in apartment

I was randomly assaulted by a stranger in my apartment’s gym and was cut with a knife. Because of this, I asked my landlord to make sure my unit’s front door is kept locked for my safety, but my request was refused. I also asked my landlord to discuss additional safety measures going forward, but they refused as well. In addition, my landlord has not repaired the bathroom exhaust fan for three months, and for over two weeks there has been no hot water in the shower. My landlord is not ensuring tenants’ safety or basic living conditions, yet continues to demand rent and the security deposit.
